About Us
The Virginia Youth Symphony Orchestra is a youth orchestra unlike any you have ever heard before!
We only play professional repertoire - and if you close your eyes, you can't tell that it is young people playing!
Not only is the repertoire professional, but so is the playing level and the performance opportunities!
DON'T WORRY - no one enters the Virginia Youth Symphony playing perfectly right off-the-bat!
We like to think that we provide an incredibly rich and rewarding environment that helps you get to the 'incredible playing' stage!
Like all excellent activities, this one requires work: practice! You will be expected to pull your weight by practicing.
You can't get anywhere, in any activity without effort - and here in the Virginia Youth Symphony Orchestra - you're expected to pull your musical weight!
But, ... DON'T WORRY - you won't have any trouble getting into the practice routine: Rehearsals are fun and the repertoire is astounding!
The trouble will be getting you to stop practicing!
The VYSO is the proud recipient of four (4) INTERNATIONAL VIDEOGRAPHER AWARDS for it's DVD video - "Orvieto: A Memorial" (2002-2003).
